Positive Energy – Securing energ

Positive Energy - Securing Energy Independence now!

The Challenge

"You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you." - Walt Disney

The people of the United States are in trouble and they know it.  Rising energy costs are paralyzing the economy and threatening the daily purchasing power and long term economic prospects of every American business and family.  Polling numbers reveal the cost of energy is on top of the American mind.

There is an even bigger problem associated with high energy costs. The current energy crisis is fueling an unprecedented transfer of American wealth to foreign nations many of whom are hostile to the core principles of constitutional representative government.

Every day Americans fill their gas tanks and bang their steering wheels in frustration. Seldom have the people of this nation felt so helpless against an adversary that is taking food from their tables, dollars from their paychecks and jeopardizing their long term economic futures.

Promising energy alternatives exist in abundance. A brief listing includes:

Fuel Cells
Bio-Fuels
Increased Domestic Oil Production
Nuclear Power
Clean Coal
Solar, Hydro-Power and Wind
Natural Gas

All of these fuel sources, and many yet developing technologies and alternative forms of energy, offer real opportunities for energy independence and economic growth but none of them are moving forward as fast as the rising price of crude oil  Understanding and overcoming this inertia is the paramount challenge to bringing energy independence and a new era of opportunity to America.

The recipe for this inertia contains many ingredients. Some are driven by economic profit. Others are driven by ideology and political accommodation. The key is create a shift in public momentum that will expose fractured territorialism while at the same time promoting positive alternatives that will create the desired goal - energy independence.

The Strategy

Mobilize the marketplace

The first and primary audience fro this project is the gasoline using public. This consumer market is huge and equally frustrated by being subjected to the victimization of higher fuel costs.  The people of America understand that political leaders at the state and federal level have failed to create public policy that mitigates the global energy crisis.

PositiveEnergy.org works to mobilize the hard-working, everyday gasoline- pumping Americans who are fed up and ready to fight for changes. Mobilization includes targeting the US Congress and State Capitols to fight for specific policy changes that will create energy independence.

Galvanize strategic leadership

This is the middle of the energy pyramid, where the solutions and alternative forms of energy are being researched and discovered. Business leaders and academics are dealing daily with the energy crisis. They know there are real answers but recognize the economic and political barriers to bringing these alternatives to market. They know how to fix the problem but lack the political clout to make their solutions a reality.

By uniting strategic leadership and the millions of frustrated consumers looking for answers the momentum will be created to change the top of the energy pyramid.

Leverage the top of the energy pyramid

Moving Congress, Governors, and State Legislatures is the key with Congress coming first. Major energy suppliers and the auto industry must also be included at the top of this pyramid. To succeed in bringing positive energy alternatives to America a significant degree of separation must be created between Members of Congress and the lobbying power of the energy and auto industries.

In the immediate short term this separation will be created by the mass mobilization of citizens forcing Congress to move toward positive alternatives. In the longer term, the energy and auto industries have every opportunity to benefit from the coming energy changes. The key will be helping Congress understand the change must happen NOW while helping industry see the long-term benefits of adapting to the changes required for energy independence.

Here is just one example of how a mobilized citizenry can immediately create positive change. Consumers pressure Congress for immediate energy legislation. Consumers, business leaders and academics assemble an energy bill that will:

1. Remove barriers for immediate drilling for domestic oil

2. Create incentives for clean coal and nuclear power development

3. Create Federal and State partnerships to immediately incentivize production and purchase of electric and alternative fuel cars.

Congress passes the legislation which creates a positive "domino effect" that moves America forward toward energy independence. Of course one piece of legislation is only the beginning of solving this long-term strategic challenge. But one major victory is the platform to build a second and third victory.

But none of this happens unless an energized citizenry gets wholly involved and creates the necessary leverage on Congress to force the politicians to move on behalf of the nation. Therefore everything on this strategy hinges upon a bottom-up strategy that rolls up the opposition to positive change.

The Outcomes

More energy - more winners

There is boundless energy on earth and plenty of it is available to North America. There is no scientific or long-range economic reason for the American economy to be subject to foreign governments for the energy to build and maintain a prosperous society.

The answer to the energy crisis is to create more usable energy, safer, smarter, cleaner and cheaper than we have in the past. The answer to fear is progress. The answer to adversity is innovation and opportunity. This bottom up strategy will create a new political environment whereby the free markets can expand and create more energy and prosperity.

A better understanding of our civil government

This will be a long battle. It cannot be won by simply electing a President. This battle will help Americans rediscover the constitutional reality that electing Members of Congress is truly important, far more important than electing a chief executive officer. It will also help create a better understanding of the benefit of free markets versus agenda-driven regulatory environments.

Independence Day - National security - National Prosperity

Change will happen when Americans commit to making change happen. This plan is a vital piece of the process that will result in freeing the American economy from dependence upon any single source of energy.

This plan will also contribute to the primary responsibility of the United States: providing for the national defense. Energy independence frees America from foreign entanglements that threaten to cripple our economy and force us into military action.

Finally, this plan can restore American prosperity by innovation. America can once again lead the world in the creation of new positive energy alternatives. The numbers of jobs that will be created by retooling America's energy sector will rival the period of the industrial revolution.
